CETL offers several types of courses related to teaching:

- Other Teaching Courses (Includes courses offered by departments other than CETL)

Tech to Teaching - Higher Education Courses
CETL 8713 (was 8803 TL): Fundamentals of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (3 credits)
Offered each Spring term Special offering: 8713 will be offered in Fall 2013.
This course focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for effective classroom instruction and management in higher education including: educational psychology, lesson planning, and delivery techniques.
Prerequisite: You have been a college-level TA for a laboratory and/or recitation section (do not count terms spent as a grader) for at least one term (at Tech and/or elsewhere).
Grading Options: May be taken for a Letter Grade or Pass/Fail and the student must select their grading scheme when registering for the course in Banner. If taken for a Letter Grade, the course may be used towards a doctoral minor in Higher Education ONLY WITH HOME DEPARTMENT PRE-APPROVAL.

CETL 8715 (was 8803 PR): Teaching Practicum in Higher Education (3 credits)
Offered every term (Fall, Spring and Summer)
Students will work with a faculty mentor to gain an inside view of the practicalities of teaching. They will have the opportunity to teach 15% of a course's "lectures," do other teaching-related tasks (e.g. writing homework or exam questions), get feedback on performance from various sources, and discuss various aspects of teaching with their mentor. Practicum may be completed with a mentor from Georgia Tech, Georgia Perimeter College, Agnes Scott College, or Spelman College. Students can also get advice from CETL on how to initiate a practicum experience with a faculty mentor at another local institution.
Prerequisite: CETL 8713 (was 8802/3 TL) or with special permission from Dr. Donna Llewellyn and/or course instructor
CETL 8717 (was 8803 CD): Course Design in Higher Education (3 credits)
Offered each Fall term
Individuals in this course will have the guided experience of designing their own learner-centered college-level course while both giving and receiving peer feedback from the community of learners in the course. Participants will leave with a mostly designed course on a topic of their choosing in a context of their choosing. Part of the Tech to Teaching Program.
Prerequisite: CETL 8713 (was 8802/3 TL) and CETL 8715 or with special permission from Dr. Donna Llewellyn and/or course instructor

CETL 8719 (was 8801 IMM): Teaching Immersion in Higher Education (1 credit)
Offered every term (Fall, Spring and Summer)
Students will teach their own course as instructor of record with the support of a faculty mentor. Options at Georgia Tech may include teaching a course in the home department or teaching the GT 1000 Freshman Seminar. Students may also have the opportunity to be the instructor of record in a class taught at one of our partner institutions: Georgia Perimeter College, Agnes Scott, or Spelman College. Students can also get advice from CETL on how to initiate an immersion experience with a faculty mentor at another local institution.
Required Prerequisites: CETL 8713 (was 8802/3 TL), CETL 8715 and CETL 8717 or with special permission from Dr. Donna Llewellyn and/or course instructor
Teaching Assistant (TA) Development Courses
Courses restricted to graduate TAs hired by the department offering the course.
8000 Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Preparation (1 credit)
Sections: AP, BIO, CHM, EAS, ECE, MAT, COC, PHYS
This course is an introduction to the procedural information and practical skills needed to be an effective graduate teaching assistant. NOTE: Permits for students in department-specific sections will be automatically requested by their departments. Once CETL issues the permit, the student must register for the course in OSCAR to be enrolled in the course.

8711 SLIDER/GO STEM Summer Development Course (3 credits)
8712 SLIDER/GO STEM Seminar (1 credit)
Must be an accepted SLIDER or GO STEM (Goizueta) Fellow take take these courses.
