Confirmation of Terms

Terms of the CETL Graduate Course Permit Process:

  • Students may request a permit for up to one (1) Language Course (for native OR non-native English Speakers) AND up to one (1) Teaching Course PER semester.
  • Students must meet ALL of the course "requirements" for any course they request a permit for.
  • When a permit is issued, the student should receive an email.  However, students must use OSCAR as their confirmation that the permit has been issued - the permit will appear in OSCAR.
  • CETL receives a large volume of permit requests and all permits are processed manually by a person (not automatically and immediately by a computer) so the process takes time.  Permits are processed Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm, excluding official university holidays or days the university closes due to inclement weather.  The time to process a permit varies by the type(s) of course(s).  For more specific information on the time it will take to process your permit(s), visit: http://www.cetl.gatech.edu/courses/gradcourses#timelines.
  • Permits allow the student to register for the course (if open). Permits do not guarantee a seat in the course and do not register the student for the course.  It is the student's responsibility to register for desired courses in OSCAR after receiving the permit. A permit does not obligate the student to take the course.
  • Errors can occur in OSCAR. CETL is not responsible for activity on OSCAR.
