4001 Principles of Learning and Teaching I (3 credits)

Tuesdays, 3:05 - 5:55 pm

This course focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for effective classroom instruction and management including: educational psychology, instructional design, and delivery techniques. Corequisite: Restricted to students with at least junior standing and a GPA of at least 2.75. Graduate students in science, engineering, math, or related fields may also request permits for this course.

8793 ECE (restricted to ECE graduate students)

A1: Tuesdays 9:20am-11:50am

This course is an oral skills class designed to help graduate students become more accurate and fluent in both verbal and nonverbal skills. In addition to working on acquiring an American accent and body language when speaking English, students will work on basic presentation skills.

This course is an introduction to the procedural information and practical skills needed to be an effective undergraduate teaching assistant. NOTE: Permits for students in department-specific sections (e.g., Math, CS) will be automatically requested by their departments.

This course is designed to enhance the skills and abilities which allowed you to be hired as a Student Staff member at Georgia Tech. It will educate you to the goals, values, and mission of the Department of Residence Life, present new perspectives on the residence hall environment, and provide you with some techniques, skills and knowledge necessary to becoming a successful staff member. Participants in this course will gain a deeper understanding of their role as a leader, helper and educator within the residence hall through the development of their human relations skills.

4002 Principles of Learning and Teaching II (3 credits)

Tuesdays from 3:05 - 4:25 p.m. plus lab hours TBD

This course focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for effective classroom instruction and management including educational psychology, instructional design and delivery techniques. This is the second in a two-course sequence designed to prepare the student to pass the Praxis II PLT exam for high school grades. Restricted to Georgia Tech students with senior or graduate standing and GPA greater than or equal to 2.5. CETL4001 is a prerequisite for this course. No exceptions.
