WebCT Migration

FAQ on WebCT Migration to T-Square

  • Why do we have to migrate in the first place?  WebCT has been working for me just fine, and I don't see the value in this disruption.

The move to T-Square was recommended by a faculty committee last year, and more of the history behind that decision and its vision is articulated here:  http://info.t-square.gatech.edu
  • I'm not teaching in the Spring, do I still need to migrate?

The sooner the better, but course sites and their content on WebCT will remain available for archive access for at least the next year; it will just not be available for running active courses.
  • My course site in WebCT has depended on integration with Wimba Live Classroom, but this isn't in T-Square yet.  What can I do?

We are working to try to get a limited license extension for the Spring term for exceptional cases like this.  In the meantime we'll also work to have these particular technical requirements satisfied by the Summer, when WebCT will no longer be available for running courses even to this limited extent.
  • It is really impossible for me to migrate to T-Square in this time frame. Is there anything that can be done?

If you have other reasons to believe that your course won't be able to leave WebCT for the Spring, then please send a note describing the situation to Clay Fenlason. We may be able to work out a solution for you for the Spring semester only.
