CETL offers a variety of resources to enhance the teaching effectiveness of Georgia Tech's Teaching Assistants (TAs), both undergraduate (UTAs) and graduate (GTAs). CETL works with individual TAs as well as colloboratively with the academic units that employ students as TAs and other service units on campus that interface with TAs (e.g. Center for Success Programs).
Resources for TAs
General New Graduate TA Orientation: Campus-wide orientation held at the beginning of each Fall and Spring term for graduate TAs (GTAs)
New International TA Orientation: Campus-wide orientation held at the beginning of each Fall term for international TAs (ITAs)
Undergraduate TA Orientation: Campus-wide orientation held at the beginning of each Fall and Spring term for undergraduate TAs (UTAs)
Teaching Workshops: Offered Fall and Spring terms
Consultations, Observation/Videotaping, Mid-term Evaluation/Classroom Dialogue: One on one consultations with TAs on any teaching related topic. May include a preliminary step of collecting data about your teaching via videotaping, observation, midterm evlautions, or a Classroom Dialogue.
CETL/BP Awards: Institute-wide awards for TAs (both undergraduate and graduate) and Graduate Student Instructors
Courses in TA Development: Offered in conjunction with academic units for both graduate (CETL 8000) and undergraduate (CETL 2000) Teaching Assistants
Library: Books, journals, videos on teaching housed in CETL's offices
Faculty Development Seminars: Held on the 3rd Thursday of each moth during the Fall and Spring terms and GTAs are invited to attend
TA Development Mini-grant Program: A mini-grant program designed for TAs (in conjuction with their department), TA Coordinators (in academic units), instructors, and faculty to seek additional funds to offer programs and reosurces designed to help develop the skills of Georgia Tech's TAs
TA Web: Online modules designed to assist TAs (and instructors) in learning about important policies, procedures, and practices related to their work at Georgia Tech
