Georgia Tech New International TA Orientation

2008 International Teaching Assistant Orientation

The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) and the Georgia Tech Language Institute invite all International Graduate Teaching Assistants to participate in the International Teaching Assistant Orientation.  Refreshments will be provided.  Advanced registration is required.

 

When?

Date: Friday, August 15
Time: 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM.

Where?

Georgia Tech (Wenn) Student Center, Room 320

What?

  • The roles and expectations of the teacher and student in the American classroom
  • Keys to effective communication with students
  • Strategies for a successful first day of class

NOTE: International TAs should also attend the General Orientation for all new TAs.

Who Should Attend?

  • All new international graduate teaching assistants who are new to the United States and who will be working as a TA in Fall 2008 and/or Spring 2009

Who is Welcome to Attend?

  • Any returning/experienced international graduate teaching assistants
  • Any international post-docs or faculty

How do you Register?


Individual TAs :
Please register by Thursday, August 14 using the form below. NOTE: Some departments will be pre-registering all of their TAs in advance. Please check with your department’s graduate or TA coordinator before registering.


Departmental TA or Graduate Coordinators:
If you are registering all of your TAs as a group, please email a spreadsheet with the information requested below to Felicia Turner (felicia.turner@cetl.gatech.edu) by Friday, July 25. Be sure to indicate whether your TAs will be staying for dinner from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
