Assessment of Classroom Teaching -- Information for Tech's GTAs
The GTA Development Programs staff offers all Tech GTAs the opportunity to have the classes that they are teaching observed and evaluated. This observation/assessment may take one or a combination of the following forms:
- Observation and written evalution provided by the TA Program Director
- If you would like to see a copy of the observation protocols used in the classroom observation/evaluation, please click here.
- Videotaping
- Another CETL staff person will videotape of the class observed.
- Subsequent consultation with the TA Program Director
- After you have had a chance to digest the written comments / student comments/your videotape, you may arrange an appointment with the TA Program Director to review and discuss your teaching strengths and areas for improvement.
- Solicitation of anonymous student input
- Upon your request, the TA Program Director will take the last 15 minutes of the classtime, with you absent from the room (and the videotape off!), to query your students on their perspectives of your teaching; these comments will be summarzied for you to review.
- Student evaluation by the official Georgia Tech Course Instructor Opinion Survey
