Dr. Ying Zhang is a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where she has directly involved 59 undergraduate students and 12 graduate students in her research as well as served her department by coordinating ECE 2040 (Circuit Analysis) and evaluating course credit equivalencies for transfer students. A former Hesburgh Award Teaching Fellow, Dr. Zhang believes that evidence-based teaching and learning can improve the learning experience of students, and help students learn more effectively and achieve desired learning outcomes. She says,
I love teaching! But many faculty members, who are excellent in their disciplines, do not have enough time or opportunities to investigate and develop the evidence-based teaching and learning methods. And, for various reasons, it can be difficult to identify and adopt the right strategies for fair assessment of student learning and performance. Through the PTLF program, I, with my interdisciplinary colleagues, hope to help overcome these challenges.
